During this difficult time while most families stay at home in other to stay safe, people get tired of staying at home. Most people get bored because they are not used to staying at home for over a week or almost a month. it is difficult for everyone. However, the most affected are the youth who are still at their learning stages.

Some people resort to different ways of dealing with this challenge. Some engage in chats with friends(but sometimes unproductive chats) others watch movies or read books (they get bore with this doing it alone or with the same people over and over again)

This is where the African Youth Institute comes in; To create a virtual reading community where We Select A Book | We Read A Chapter Together (Daily) | We Discuss Its Contents & Share Lessons Learnt.

This is a perfect approach since people are encourage because they are not overwhelmed; discussions are encouraged and resource persons are also available to throw more lights on participants’ concerns

The Campaign reduces boredom, encourages hard-work, allows for learning new things and ensures that people use their times productively while under the lockdown.

The main target group is the youth (age 16-40)

This campaign will be so beneficial to the intended group because, at the end of the lockdown, thew would have used their times productively, reduce boredom and learnt new things

This is a perfect approach since people are encourage because they are not overwhelmed; discussions are encouraged and resource persons are also available to throw more lights on participants’ concerns

We have gone through the pains to put in calculated actions to ensure effective delivery of the campaign

The entire campaign will be VIRTUAL; it will take place on the following dates and platforms:

Apart from the staff at the institute who will be on alert to moderate discussions and answer questions, we have also sort the help of resource persons with the appreciable qualifications, experiences and most importantly, the interest and fire to provide extra insights and lessons for participants

Assistance Needed

Since this is a virtual campaign which requires the team to be online for most times of the day throughout the campaign period, there are two major and immediate needs:

1. Resources for internet data

2. Resources for running digital ads on selected social media in order to reach more youth/beneficiaries

3. Any other help including expertise and suggestions

At the end of the #Covid19 #LockDown, we will all come out safe, stronger and more knowledgeable, ready to face a new world with burning ideas that we might have conceived through our experince from the “Let’s Read Together Campaign”. #LRTC2020
